The Pipe Shop in the North Vancouver Shipyards

When it comes to planning your wedding, think of it like real estate: location, location, location!

Welcome to the first blog in our wedding venue series: Vancouver edition! More specifically, North Vancouver or commonly referred to as ‘Lonsdale’ or ‘The Shipyards.’ We at Elyse & Co. strongly believe that where you celebrate your love plays a huge role in the tone of your wedding.

When selecting the ideal wedding venue for you and your partner, it’s important to be mindful of a few things:

  • Square Footage - can this space handle the amount of guests you’re inviting? Not just to sit at tables but to dance and move around?

  • Vibe - maybe it’s your grandparents backyard or your favourite winery. Maybe it’s a park you first met at with a gorgeous view or city hall. There is no point of having a mountain top ceremony if you’re afraid of heights, so make sure your wedding venue fits your vibe.

  • Location - Are you dreaming of an out of town escape? Is there a sentimental aspect you’re considering with your venue? How about parking for your guests? Kitchen space? Distance from the highway? Is it close to hotels if it is out of town for you? Can your ceremony and reception be held underneath the same roof? All important things to consider before booking!

If you’re looking for a wedding venue with an urban industrial vibe and plenty of space, The Pipe Shop is one of our top choices.

The North Shore offers many unique, centrally located venues surrounded by an abundance of parking and incredible views. The Pipe Shop is one of them. One glance at their Instagram account and you’ll see from their bio why we love this spot: SPACE! “A spectacular 9,000 sq. ft. space with concrete floors, natural light & original heritage beams” is a direct statement from The Pipe Shop and we couldn’t agree more.

Located right across the water from the downtown Vancouver Skyline, you’ll find parkades, the ocean, north shore mountains and restaurants all steps away from this venue. If you’ve ever wanted a spacious industrial spot with high ceilings and city views, say no more! It even has a kitchen. We love everything that The Pipe Shop has to offer and the way we’ve transformed this heritage building for special events in the past makes us so excited to do it again and again!

No matter what event you hold here, we can promise you there is plenty of room. The Pipe Shop seats 360 guests and one of its greatest appeals is how blank of a canvas it is. Whether it’s the bright daylight pouring from the huge windows or the twinkling lights bouncing off the ocean in the distance, this is a dream venue that you can completely customize from day to night.

Functional features of The Pipe Shop that go beyond what industrial dreams are made of, include:

  • Renovated washrooms

  • Open concept kitchen

  • A garland of string lights hanging from the exposed ceiling

  • Domestic hot water

  • Installed ceiling fans

  • As stated on pipeshopvenue.com, you’ll also find a 23 ft feature wall for A/V projections with frame. A 16″ x 9″ opening has been cut into the wall (frame) complete with lighting tucked in behind to allow for better ambience later at night.

  • Did we mention steps away from the boardwalk and ocean with a Vancouver skyline?

As seen below, the way we’ve transformed The Pipe Shop in the past would make any couple happy! Plenty of room for guests, whether they are enjoying a long table styled dinner or they are dancing.
